Lisu Tribe:

There are approximately 38,299 Lisus living in 155 villages, their language is the Yunnan and they don’t have any kind of writing. They come from Yunnan and Tibet and they emigrate in Burman, then in Thailand during the XIXth century.

They cultivate by slash and burn method since a very long time. They grow rice, sweet potato, melon, pumpkins, beans, tobacco, cotton… Earlier, they planted opium.

Their religion is animist and their god is Wusa. Inside their villages, they have a sanctuary which is taking away all bad spirits.

The Lisu women wear a green or blue large tunic which has colored shoulders. They wear leggings and Chinese pants as well. During the weddings, they wear silk and multicolored belt, a black jacket with silver buttons. Men wear violet trousers and a black jacket.

Les individus de la tribu Lisu sont approximativement 38 299 et vivent dans 155 villages. Leur langue est le Yunnan mais ils n’ont aucune forme d’écriture.

A la base ils viennent du Yunnan et du Tibet, ils ont ensuite émigré en Birmanie, puis en Thaïlande au XIXe siècle.  

Ils utilisent une agriculture traditionnelle sur brûlis pour cultiver le riz, la patates douces, melons, potirons, haricots, tabac et coton. Avant cela, ils étaient producteurs d’opium.

Leur religion est l’animisme et leur dieu principal s’appelle Wusa. Ils ont aussi un sanctuaire spirituel dans leur village afin de repousser les mauvais esprits.

 Le vêtement traditionnel féminin est une longue tunique bleue ou verte dont les manches sont colorées. Elles portent aussi des sortes de guêtres par-dessus un pantalon chinois. Durant les cérémonies, elles portent une ceinture en soie multicolore, une veste noire et des boutons en argent. Les hommes portent des pantalons chinois violet et également une veste noire.
